Underwater World Pattaya, Bang Lamung

3.0
View more than 2,500 marine creatures at Underwater World Pattaya, an exciting aquarium filled with educational and interactive displays. Get to know the sea's smaller inhabitants at the touch pool, where you can feel small sharks, sea cucumbers, rays, starfish, and more. After a quick hand wash, continue on to see sea otters, stingrays, and giant groupers. Admire nature's artwork in the reef tank, where the colorful coral formations play host to exotic fish, and try to catch a live feeding. Shark, ray, and otter feedings tend to be the most popular and the best seats go early. • I did not expect such great variety of sea creatures in a very well maintained aquarium. Well done indeed  more »
  • Entertaining place to visit. Children liked it. Adults too interesting and informative. You can watch endlessly, the underwater world is fascinating.

  • My first time here and it was a memorable one. You don't get to see these many types of fresh water fishes in one place. Must watch for everyone. If you are anywhere between 2 to 3 kilometers from this place and you want a taxi, they will charge you 150 baht which is daylight robbery. So, the best way to negotiate is tell them they are going to get commission from the underwater world people for taking you there, so, ask them to reduce. Maybe 30 to 50 baht per person not more than that. If two people are traveling and you follow my advice, you would be saving roughly 80 - 90 baht.
  • Nice for kids to touch and feed some of the animals. Very nice aquarium tunnel with fish swimming over your head. Also includes some reptiles and insects. Jelly fish section is under renovation.
  • Very quick 15 minute walk through and you are already back at the entrance. Has lots of cool fish and critters but very small. Good smoothies out front though.
  • Only limited species of underwater animals available. Is a little expensive. I feel its overrated. The one in Bangkok is much better.
  • Not the most hi tech but great fun for kids. Beware the double pricing. Foreigners pay more. If you are a local farang a Thai drivers license will get you in at the Thai price.

Where to stay in Bang Lamung

Bang Lamung remains a fairly untouristed area save for the two islands of Ko Lan and Ko Phai, and the nearby city of Pattaya, so accommodations are not easy to come by. The central main town of Ko Lan features plenty of hotels, bed and breakfasts, and guesthouses. These vary from budget-friendly to slightly more expensive rooms with amenities such as ensuite bathrooms, air conditioning, and swimming pools.
