Nature / Park Must See
Lanta Animal Welfare is a nonprofit charity in southwest Thailand dedicated to improving the lives of animals and relieving their pain and suffering. It's a rescue and rehabilitation center that also runs sterilization and rabies vaccination mobile clinics on Koh Lanta and surrounding islands and regions. It receives no government support and relies on private donations from people around the world. Visit the center and take dogs for walks along the picturesque beach, or cuddle with cats in a fun, safe environment. These animals lived hard lives before they were rescued, and love to meet people and receive affection. If you find a new best friend you simply cannot part with, look into the rehoming program for these animals who deserve a loving home after all they've been through. Inspirock's itinerary builder makes planning a Ko Lanta trip simple and quick.

  • We’ve easily spent a few hours here just walking the dogs and joining the hourly tours where you get to meet the dogs in the shelter, each of their history and their personalities. They only take in injured and sick stray animals and treat them in their clinic area, and when they’re healthy, they get to meet everyone who’s willing to pet/adopt them. Those who are still sick are contained. Very organized structure of running the place, and very clean surroundings and cages. Animals here are happy and loved :)
  • The volunteers are doing an amazing job looking after the cats and dogs. A must visit while on the island. Even if just for a drink and some sweets at their lovely cafe. Everything is vegan. The place is clean and the cats were sweet and cuddly, the ones that weren't lazily sleeping that is. You can also buy souvenirs from their shop and everything goes for a good cause.
  • These guys are doing incredible things to help the local animals. If you have time, stop by on the hour and before 5pm, and you'll get a tour. The wraps in their Kitty City cafe are also awesome, as are their shakes. You can walk dogs down to the beach too, which is lovely :)
  • We had a lovely time touring the shelter and walking the puppies! Wish we could have adopted one but unfortunately our landlord does not allow it. Highly recommend visiting here if you're on the island.
  • Very cool place with a lot of dedicated volunteers who are mostly from all over the world but working closely together with the local people. They give you a tour and tell you about the organization and how you can support them. There is also the opportunity for dog-walking, but only in the morning (ca. until 11am) and in the afternoon (ca. after 3pm). Dogs and cats are treated very well. Highly recommended for animal lovers.
