Part of Ayutthaya Historical Park, Wat Panan Choeng represents a Buddhist temple built in the 12th century and features a large, gold, seated Buddha. This particular Buddha image is very important for Thais and Thai-Chinese, who considered it the guardian of mariners. Zheng He, a Chinese Muslim admiral, famously visited this attraction in the 15th century and offered gifts to the temple. Remember to dress respectfully and wear long pants and sleeves. • This is a cool, acting Temple with a giant golden Buddha inside. It doesn't take long to go through and there's no entrance fee. If you have 20 minutes, it's worth a stop. Remember to dress modestly!  more »
  • Sometimes you can travel through Asia and be so templed out, that you think "seen one, seen them all". But this temple is something very very special. Firstly, unlike most other temples I have visited...  more »

  • This temple and monastery left me speechless. It was incredibly peaceful yet you could sense the activity going on all around. The giant Buddha image is worth seeing, as are all of the ante-chambers off the main temple, which are colourful and richly decorated. I'm not sure why but there was something very special about this place.
  • My last visit before leaving Ayutthaya since is far from the other famous sites. This active Buddhist Temple’s most noteworthy attraction is its 19m Golden Buddha surrounded by 84000 smalls Buddha images. The view of this giant status left me speechless, truly wonderful.
  • Great buddha image and mix art of Thai-Chinese, let try feeding a ton of fresh water fish.
  • One of the best experiences I had, I was the part of the rituals performed at the temple with the yards and yards of yellow cloth. A stunning mega structure of the Lord Buddha in gold.
  • This is one of the most ancient temple in Thailand that still active. The temple was relate to Chinese princes in ancient time, that why there are many Chinese architecture and construction around the temple. The high light of this temple is a large golden Buddha image in the chapel approximately to 100 feet high, and the Chinese Princes shrine not far from the chapel. The large Buddha or “Loung Por To” is famous for a majestic power of lucky and wealthy, that why the temple always full of crowd in the weekend. To avoid traffic problem and crowd, should visit the place on the weekdays.
