Wat Panan Choeng, Ayutthaya
(4.5/5 based on 280+ reviews on the web)
Part of Ayutthaya Historical Park, Wat Panan Choeng represents a Buddhist temple built in the 12th century and features a large, gold, seated Buddha. This particular Buddha image is very important for Thais and Thai-Chinese, who considered it the guardian of mariners. Zheng He, a Chinese Muslim admiral, famously visited this attraction in the 15th century and offered gifts to the temple. Remember to dress respectfully and wear long pants and sleeves. • I first visited this temple during the cruise, so we visited the temple but short. Coincidentally I walked there along later and decided to go back in, and because the much quieter I finally saw the ritual which this temple was so crowded: the ceremony where you under the veil of the Buddha blessed is. Apparently this ceremony elsewhere but celebrated once a year; here throughout the day.

  • IMPRECIONANTE Buddha as the temple. Huge and very well restored. It is worth to explore it. It is worth to explore it. Monks, prayer and respect.

  • I came here in a big buddhist day, so it's very crowded. Big temple. Too many people. There is a sign in front of the Charpel that you can lose your shoes!
  • Loy Kratong Night at this place was wonderful
  • This place is well known for the assembly hall where a big Buddha image is housed and adorned. Locally referred to as Luang Pho To, the statue is approximately 19 meter high. The temple is always busy, with locals and tourists paying respect to this Buddha image.
  • This is my second favorite Buddha of the ones I visiting it Thailand. The massive golden Buddha is close to 100 feet high, and takes up the space of the majority of the room. We are all crammed into the room admitting the Buddha. This is definitely a must see when visiting Ayutthaya.
  • If i am in town, this is one of the places I always visit. Should go on weekdays to avoid crowd.
