Discover Thailand's rich and compelling history at Ayutthaya Historical Park, a settlement founded in 1350. The second Siamese capital, it was ransacked by the Burmese in the 18th century, yet its ruins still offer a fascinating glimpse into Asian architecture of the period, town life, and spirituality. Now a World Heritage Site, the city retains an abundance of treasured buildings, statues, and surrounding scenery. Admire the delicacy of the design and its resilience to the forces of nature and society. Remember to bring your camera, and note that crowds peak at midday. Ayutthaya Historical Park is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our online itinerary creator, Ayutthaya Edition.

  • A great piece of history here. well worth a visit and would come here again. Thais are free foreigners are 50 baht. But there's some great pictures to be had here.
  • It is alright. Sukothai Historical Park is better in my opinion, but since that is more off the beaten path and about another 4 or 5 hours north by car, Ayutthata is a suitable substitute. It can get hot and crowded. It is also helpful to either hire a guide or bring a good guide book.
  • A great place! The giant Buddha temple and the temple nearby are one of the best in my humble opinion.
  • Nice historical place to visit. Tour guide would be adviced, otherwise a lot of interesting infomation will be missed.
  • Very impressive park showcasing the history of Ayutthaya. Even in ruin, it can be seen that centuries ago this was a very impressive place.
  • Ayutthaya Historical Park is a MUST SEE! The ruins have been left where they stand. So much history in Ayutthaya. Be sure to do a day trip with a great tour guide.
