Zanzibar Spice Tour, Stone Town

3.3
Sightseeing Tour · Tour
The specs: Fusing a restored nineteenth-century Swahili sultan’s palace and Zanzibar’s first photographic studio, this multi-storied small hotel has an inner courtyard, eleven unique antiques-filled rooms, and one of Zanzibar’s best restaurants.

The look: Romantic, with blue-, pink-, and violet-painted walls, rich textiles, deep baths, and high beds.

The experience: The Stone Town location means you’re surrounded by the sounds and smells of local life, but well-travelled guests—the list includes Matt Dillon and Juliette Binoche—embrace the feast for all senses and are not bothered by the lack of conventional amenities such as minibars and television. All suites have verandas, and each is so intriguingly decorated that there is no cause for the room envy typical of many converted courtyard houses. Conde Nast Hotlist 2012

  • Zanzibar spice tour, A very rich place as spices are concerned
  • Mitu spice tours' walking tour around Stone Town was by far the worst program that I've ever been on to, for my whole life. My 'tour guide', upon arrival, turned out to be UNLICENSED. He would buy a bottled water, throw it out, and refill it with a vodka, and would drink on the streets during the tour. He did not have a front teeth, which is not a problem per se, but would mumble and was hard to listen. So when I could not understand what he was saying and asked him to repeat, he would mumble again and command at me 'Do you get what I'm saying?', which he wouldn't stop even though I told him to. These are only parts of the problems. I am heavily disappointed that the agency would sent out such a messed-up guide and think that they could slide by. Not even worth a star.
  • We were picked up on time, went for the tour then for a dip at Mangapwani!! The pilau we took after the Spice Tour was really good.
  • This place is tour agent
  • Mitus spice tour was not worth the money at all. First they where an hour late to pick us up. The tour was very short and basic and there was no tasting or smelling. The tour guide did his job with no enthousiasme. After the tour we got a 'lunch', some rice with a sauce that must be curry with a sour taste (hygiene?). There are definately better organisations to do this tour with. Eveline, an unsatisfied Belgium girl
