A natural wonder and World Heritage Site, Ngorongoro Crater provides an oasis of life for a vast population of indigenous wildlife and the nomadic Maasai tribe. The rich terrain of this huge volcanic crater stretches some 260 sq km (100 sq mi) within a protected conservation area, ranking as one of the largest inactive calderas in the world. See endless vistas and the densely populated highlands of the crater, and observe wildebeest, zebras, and one of the largest known populations of Maasai lions. • I have mixed feelings about the Ngorongoro Crater. To put you in perspective, before going into the crater, we stayed 2 days and 1 day at the Tarangire in the Ndutu. After the opulence in the Ndutu, we got a little down by visiting the crater. Yes, all the animals are, yes we've seen animals that we have not seen elsewhere (hippopotamus, rhinoceros, Buffalo)... but after seeing the abundance of the Ndutu, there was a sense of having seen it all. Unlike the other Park, the animals feel not threatened by cars... what makes animals barely move when we spend with the jeeps. The roads are well appointed and we see a variety of animals. We spent 2 hours in the crater and for us it was enough... However, I guess that for a person who is only the crater like safari, it's an exceptional. If you bother to go to the crater, I advise you to continue your road to the Serengeti. Just after the entrance to the crater. down in a Valley, and this is truly a garden of eden... Green is a green that I've ever seen, the maasai and their animals alongside giraffes, wildebeest, Gazelle, etc. We've got a real sense of harmony. Good visit!
