Where to stay in Dushanbe

By national capital standards, Dushanbe offers slim pickings in terms of accommodations. A small cluster around Khusravi Dekhlavi Street in the heart of the city includes a handful of Western chain hotels, while a smattering of smaller, more budget-friendly options can be found in the streets surrounding Rudaki Park. The youth hostel culture has yet to take off in Dushanbe, with only limited options catering to the backpacker crowd.

  • A rather nice library (by central Asian standards). It was built to impress which it kind of does not as it is architecturally strange. But the people really try to make it work. There is even a child daycare and a reading room for the blind in the building. You can book a guided tour taking you thru the whole affair.
  • Huge library. It was built to look like an open book. It should be viewed from above so the resemblance can be seen. Checkpoint and individual cards are available. Books are sorted by departments. I am not sure about the variety of reading materials though.
  • Design like a giant soviet period building, but flat, no nice details. Who the architect???
  • Great view
  • Very hudge!!!
