Suao Cold Spring, Yilan
(3.6/5 based on 120 reviews on the web)
Take a dip in the chilly Suao Cold Spring, and drink pure, fresh water containing natural sodium bicarbonate. The temperature of the water hovers around 22 C (71.6 F), so when you immerse yourself you’ll feel the chill, but after just a few minutes your body will warm up. As you swim in the gently bubbling pools, the fresh water will work wonders for your skin and circulation, while drinking the water can supposedly cure stomach aches. After your swim, try "yokan," a dessert made from the spring water. Plan to visit Suao Cold Spring during your Yilan vacation using our convenient Yilan itinerary builder.

  • Been to a few hot springs, but never been to a cold spring before. We went to the main pool and it wasn't crowded at all. It was nice and relaxing.
  • 相當特別的冷泉體驗,泡玩之後相當放鬆、舒服。夏天假日如果想泡個人湯屋,可以建議先去買票再到周遭逛逛,以免在外頭空等。

  • For foreign travelers, if you have enough time to experience natural things, then Suao Cold Spring is a place that worth to spend few hours on it. Suao is a small town in Yi-Lan county. While most visitors focusing on heading to Taroko National Park, many people may neglect this unique natural gift from Mother Gaia. So far the cold Spring can only be found in two places of the world; one is Sicily, Italy, and another is Suao, Taiwan. The Cold Spring gushes 100 square meters of underground water per hour, and the temperature is always 21℃, which makes it a perfect “low temperature spring” on scalding summer days. For local residents, it is a suitable place that for family and friends to go. Right now the cold spring has been maintained and developed with several facilities by the government. It offers public pool for people in summer (visitors need to wear swimming suit) and individual rooms for all the seasons. Price is good and reasonable. Just reminding don't forget to prepare towel and personal items in advance. If you don't have it, you may get it at the front desk. After taking the cold spring, visitors can drive to the port where has fresh sea food off the board. Finally, buying some bubble soda or gelatinized red-bean cake is a good idea to ended up the visiting since Suao is famous for its pure, good quality water to produce food long time ago. Enjoy!
  • I was brought there by some Taiwanese friends; so I can imagine that contributed to the experience. Honestly, I could have managed on my own. The place is really cute, staff were pleasant and the experience was amazing. 40 minutes with a 10 minute knock on the door as a warning.
  • I am disappointed. I have read in many websites that there are only two places in the world for this kind of cold spring. But the place seems to be neglected. Kind of old. Not worth for long journey to get here. Sad that it should be better for the rare cold spring.
  • Fantastic park with cold spring , the best place here in summer!
  • Really nice, but you need to find the back entrance to buy ticket
