Have an interactive environmental experience at Lanyang Museum, representing the area's geography and history. Divided into three parts, the exhibits cover Taiwan's mountains, plains, and oceans. The building itself resembles a cuesta, a hill with gentle slopes on one side and steep slopes on the other. Play interactive games at the theater, enjoy the 90-degree imagery on the walls and floor, and witness the formation of Lanyang plains over the last million years.
  • Very attractive from the outside. Interesting design. To me from afar it is like a building sinking into the marshland. Inside is bright and the staff really nice. Free entry for people over 65 is fan...  more »

  • The stuff in souvenir shop is very unique.. got free ice cream tester.. 😋 the entrance to museum (2 types) only 130NTD.. and nearby there're many seafood restaurant.. highly recommended!
  • I came here just to see the museum building! The rising masses against the mountain backdrop made really nice photographs. The exhibits were interesting, we got to see a travelling exhibition on Chinese Paintings while we were there. A little walking required from the Station, but i think its well worth the effort.
  • I served as a volunteer in this great Museum before. Although it spends 15 min walk from Tou-cheng Train Station, it describes the beauty of Yilan locally, even spreading to the scope of Taiwan. I preferred the "plain" topics because it is popular and easy to access for our life other than "mountains" and "ocean", respectively. But the critical challenges for this museum are limited in exhibition areas as well as there are not many functional and attractive spots nearby, somehow in summer the pier nearby offers the cruise to Gue-shan Island. Meanwhile, the outskirts were nurtured a small ecological system by the struggling of the museum staffs. I highly recommended tourists, if visiting Yilan, could consider this museum as the first window to know the history and beauty of Yilan.
  • Astonishing Architecture, but I don't really get what this museum stands for in terms of exhibition. There no collection of art piece but only lecturing the history of the local geography. I didn't pay and go inside the museum, only staying at the lobby, food court and gift shop. Had gelato with local favor, which is red guava and quite descent.
  • This museum seems more appropriate to children. As well, there are few tourist spots near the museum. So, I would not visit the museum again. But there is a decent food court in the museum.
