Embark on a moderately challenging, hour-long hike to see Wufengchi Waterfall. With three scenic levels on the way up, you can choose make the trek all the way to the top, or stop at one of the pleasant viewing areas. Once you've reached the waterfall, take a break and enjoy the misty air. On your way you'll pass by a small Catholic church, which you can enter. If it rains, exercise caution along the slippery terrain. Add Wufengchi Waterfall and other attractions to your Yilan County trip itinerary using our Yilan County vacation generator.

Where to stay in Yilan County

The city center next to the main train station has a number of long-established hotels, with some particularly luxurious options including spas naturally heated from local hot springs. Some budget-friendly options, such as guesthouses and hostels, sit in this densely populated and very developed area, usually along side streets. Look to the south across the river for a good mix of different accommodations in the county townships, and to the hot springs park north of the main city center, where hotels--both luxurious and basic--boast onsite spas using the geothermal waters.

  • Free, easy climbing, many pools to bath feet or more around. Nice spot for pictures.
  • Good waterfall. Easy hike. There's a neat looking church in the area as well.
  • Nice hike! Cool destination! Friendly fellow hikers! Pretty waterfalls!
  • Not a very long hike to the waterfall about 15 minutes. There's a longer trail that goes to the top of the mountain. There were many people there hiking so don't expect to have a peaceful secluded walk but the waterfall is beautiful.
  • Very crowded as we went on a weekend. It was great as we saw a small rainbow by the second waterfall. A very gorgeous view from the top of the mountain down
