The Pier-2 Art Centre, Yancheng

4.2
A complex of old warehouses converted into exhibition halls and artsy boutiques, The Pier-2 Art Centre houses various modern art projects in the middle of a huge abandoned industrial district. Take in the psychedelic-colored sculptures, installations, graffiti, large paintings, and other street art, and browse around the various industrial structures, including an old steam engine on display. You can also stroll along the wharf or take a mini-train tour of this post-industrial area, built in 1973. Cafes, bars, bookstores, and handicraft shops cluster in this private, university-managed center. • The park feels like a 10-point plan, at the same time, the Graduate business Show and other artists ' commercial performances, to the satisfaction of different people, there is a big meadow next to the art area, near the railroad museum, a lot of people put wind kite on the lawn, very suitable for the intimate activity

  • Very interesting place for art lovers. It is a Kids friendly place. We went there with a stroller. You can also rent there a bicycle to go around. If you are looking for cheap local food, you have to leave the area. I enjoyed the day the whole day. Nothing to do at night.
  • It is like a special zone in Yancheng District of Kaohsiung. This public square is wide and large, opened to tourists. There are many railways on the ground as well as some old trains standing on them. The building behind the field is a museum. The surrounding areas are opened to shops and stalls. Since it used to be a concourse of rail terminals, those obsolete facilities were then designed to be a nostalgic place for Taiwanese trains. It is usually crowded with young people to have activities. Some exhibition or filming also take place here. It is therefore an art center of diverse usage, a good place to see the culture of Taiwan.
  • Very time we come here, we just love the atmosphere in the surrounding area. Feel like being abroad 😎😍
  • One of my favourite places in Kaohsiung. The best time to visit is probably around 5pm when it is not so hot and the tour groups have left, so that one can stroll comfortably while taking in the sights of the artworks, wall murals and architecture in general. The level of commercialism has apparently been in check, such that one can feel and immerse in a atmosphere of creativity and appreciate their art and culture. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who visits Kaohsiung.
  • This is Hamasen Museum of Taiwan Railway. It's fun place, you can learn Taiwan railway history and actually take a small ride with min version of train. Kids love it very much. PS the ride is 149 for adult and 99 for kid and it's 6-7 mins ride. It's not really expensive since kids are really enjoy it.
