Yeh Liu Geo Park, Xinbei

4.3
#1 of 49 in Parks in Xinbei
Stretching some 1,700 m (5,577 ft) into the ocean, Yeh Liu Geo Park serves as a natural exhibition area for some of the strangest tent rock formations in the world. Dotted with hoodoo stones, the promontory offers fantastic views of the distinctive geological formations created in Miocene, which pushed the Dalian Mountains out of the sea. Marvel at the rocky Queen’s Head, the rock resembling a profile of Elizabeth II Queen of England, then check out Sea Candles, Fairy’s Shoe, or Ginger Rock. You can have fun concocting your own name for some of the shapes while walking through a forest of tall mushroom-shaped rocks. This bizarre Martian-like landscape can be reached by bus 90 minutes from West Taipei station. • Great place to have educational meaning, you can also have great photos, the park has to receive tickets, the plan should be done better just, and then reduce the artificial things, add some teaching meaning, the sea from the other place to drift in a lot of rubbish.

  • Very nice geo park, one of the must visit place in Taiwan. Also very close to fishermen village with lots of good sea food.  more »
  • No Liu Park, which is sunny every day, the leisurely sea wind is very comfortable, by the natural wind of the stone, formed a different natural singular view, is really strong and special, the most prominent is the queen of the styling of the team to take photos, there is a service center to facilitate the search and view information, There is also a local market to buy the hand letter, Wild Willow is really a place worth browsing

  • Yehliu Geopark Yehliu is the most remarkable scenic area in northern coast of Taiwan. The terrain is formed by a promontory that stretches 1,700 meters into the sea and contains a variety of rock formations. This rocky bay offers a spectacular view of the ocean and the unique terrain. Some of the weathered-beaten rocks are named after the shapes which resemble such as the Queen’s Head, Candle Stick Rock, and Fairy’s Shoe, among others.
  • The Smithsonian refers to this as "Disneyland for Rock Lovers"! Neither my husband & I are "rock lovers" & yet found this an absolutely fascinating experience. The park is about an hour from Taipei city on a rugged coastline & consists of natural rock formations that have been shaped over the centuries by the pounding of the waves & the wind. There are some absolutely incredible shapes that have formed - the most famous one of course being "Queens Head". Sadly, scientists tell us that due to constant erosion by the wind the head is likely to topple in the next 5-8 years.
  • This is a nice place, I assume it would be much nicer in summertime, to get lost by the rocks. You would see many wonderful shapes, the queen, a shoes, a leopard, etc. Come here with a good mood, expect to queue with other Asians to get a photograph with “The Queen”. It is a nice experience.. beautiful view of the sea.
  • The park was packed with tourist even when it was raining. Bring raincoat, not an umbrella if you plan to visit on a rainy season. It is something to see in Taiwan. The natural rock formations were amazing and views were breathtaking. Food sellers were outside the park near the parking area. Also along the road going to the park, seafood restaurants were plenty.
  • Nice place to go, however only on sunny weather. Be aware of going there on holiday. Too crowdy ! And people are lining up crazily to take a photo with the Queens Head.

Where to stay in Xinbei

Far more accommodations lie in adjacent Taipei than in Xinbei. That said, if you're keen to stay in Xinbei, you won't have any problems finding a place to sleep. Banqiao district offers the largest collection of hotels, guesthouses, and hostels in the new city, particularly around Fuzhong station. A similar variety, but greater number, of accommodations can be found in Taipei's central district, with a vast array of hotels great and small, guesthouses, hostels, and boutiques available to the east of the Tamsui River.
