Tian Yuen Temple, Xinbei

(4.1/5 based on 40+ reviews on the web)
Cameras are a must for most visitors to Tian Yuen Temple. Best known for myriads of pink cherry blossom flowers, the temple attracts most visitors in late February/early March when the trees are in full bloom. It gets crowded in season, so arm yourself with patience. Outside of cherry blossom season, you can savor the temple's striking colorful five-story pagoda with figures of Taoist deities on each level. A shuttle bus service takes visitors to the temple, but keep in mind that the return service ends in early evening. • Rode the bus, just need to walk a few steps further to the temple. Do look at the map posted to see where the cherry trees are... they are a bit further than we could tell when entering the grounds. K...  more »
  • The journey from the station of MRT tamsui took around 30 minutes. The entrance to the temple is located on the mountain and next to a small street (look for the 7 - Eleven – is the only notable reference point). the temple consists of a complex of temples in the path of entry and a tower of 5 floors as well as the cherry trees, I seriously suggest visitors to climb the tower. The view from the top floor on a clear day is amazing (there is also an elevator for those who are unable to climb stairs). While it was a day of the week, tourists from all parts of the island were there to admire the cherry blossoms. There were all kinds of people admiring the place, from elderly people and families with children, as well as a fair share of photographers (amateurs and professionals).
