  • Pinghsi streets give people a Feeling of the kind we cool we cool 緩 緩, old houses like Userboxes/Time we cool on the slopes at this moment. Some old Grocery store on the street are very distinctive. Nine in the whole Stadium Feeling and there is little variety, also called owners of small nine. Be applicable insert photos in the future around.

  • Pinghsi before you'll see a lot of Kongming Lantern fly in the air, there are many Kongming Lantern shops, Club Med brought you put on the iron 軌 Kongming lantern, there are a lot of people in a 軌 photos on the road, the fact still full of dangerous, not because the train time Club Med pass.

  • Week between car stops and not much better, you can savor the Pinghsi Humanities history, press down, town is a real story, feel the Opera Bastille Day era Mining Development Exhibition flourished without falling.

  • I prefer here than Jiufen, less crowded on weekday and most of the time, not within the list of travel tour agencies. However, do avoid weekend, as the locals will be out of city for a short getaway. You can also choose to have fun with the lantern, and enjoy a cup of coffee, waiting for the train to ride past. Perfect for relaxing (do choose weekday or non-peak season though).
  • Tourist trap. Only a sausage stand was open on a Thursday. Maybe better on the weekend?
  • Very touristy. Everybody writes on a flying lantern and releases it to the sky. Even though it is said that the lanterns are recovered and perhaps partially recycled, still doesn't seem very environmentally friendly. I hope someone comes up with better solutions so that the tradition is kept, local business survives, and the environment unharmed.
  • The sky lanterns are a lot of fun. You can also write a wish on a piece of bamboo cane that you hang up on the street.
  • I've been coming here every year since the early 00's. Have seen it grow from a backpacker place to superpopular weekend destination. Worth a visit, but if you can, avoid the crowds and go on a weekday.

Where to stay in Xinbei

Far more accommodations lie in adjacent Taipei than in Xinbei. That said, if you're keen to stay in Xinbei, you won't have any problems finding a place to sleep. Banqiao district offers the largest collection of hotels, guesthouses, and hostels in the new city, particularly around Fuzhong station. A similar variety, but greater number, of accommodations can be found in Taipei's central district, with a vast array of hotels great and small, guesthouses, hostels, and boutiques available to the east of the Tamsui River.
