  • Nine copies of the Minerals Museum, just around nine old streets, is free. There is not much to see, the only fun is to try the hand nuggets.

  • Nice place. Except going for museum or mining place, go for hiking to top hill. Will get amazing view
  • Jiufen scenery looks better and we can feel more special atmosphere in the evening coz we can see lanterns which are not turned on in the daytime and the darker it is, the more tourists come and the more stores open
  • Owner was a warm and knowledgable host! Small but interesting museum
  • seemed abandoned. there were some very old panels with something written in Chinese, and without any information in English or other languages.
  • Don't go here. It is a waste of time, just a bunch of small rocks with specs of gold

Where to stay in Xinbei

Far more accommodations lie in adjacent Taipei than in Xinbei. That said, if you're keen to stay in Xinbei, you won't have any problems finding a place to sleep. Banqiao district offers the largest collection of hotels, guesthouses, and hostels in the new city, particularly around Fuzhong station. A similar variety, but greater number, of accommodations can be found in Taipei's central district, with a vast array of hotels great and small, guesthouses, hostels, and boutiques available to the east of the Tamsui River.
