Stretching some 1,700 m (5,577 ft) into the ocean, YehLiu Geopark serves as a natural exhibition area for some of the strangest tent rock formations in the world. Dotted with hoodoo stones, the promontory offers fantastic views of the distinctive geological formations created in Miocene, which pushed the Dalian Mountains out of the sea. Marvel at the rocky Queen’s Head, the rock resembling a profile of Elizabeth II Queen of England, then check out Sea Candles, Fairy’s Shoe, or Ginger Rock. You can have fun concocting your own name for some of the shapes while walking through a forest of tall mushroom-shaped rocks. This bizarre Martian-like landscape can be reached by bus 90 minutes from West Taipei station. Took a full day trip with KK Day to Yehliu Geopark, Jioufen and Shifen. Bought entrance tickets to geopark online as it was cheaper. The geopark has many rock formations by the sea. Interesting... more »
Yehliu geopark is located on a strip of land in Wanlo district in Taiwan that extends into the Pacific Ocean. This serenely beautiful place is known for honeycomb and mushroom rock formations. more »
I came here as part of a private tour and was surprised at how much I enjoyed the experience. Going in February meant the air was crisp and the salt spray in the air was refreshing. A surprising... more »
Awesome rock formations. It is truly a wow for me! So incredible work of nature. 😁 I have so much fun with this place. Lots of rock formations formed like, buns, mushrooms, ginger, elephant, and many more .. And the center piece, the queen's head 😁. When you want to visit here, give enough time to enjoy it in full. It's a huge place and it is divided into sections. So it really needs your time for you to see all the areas. Get ready with your umbrella and water, you'll be sweating roaming around especially when it is sunny hour 😂. I pay NT$80 (adult ticket) for the entrance. Also, There are some refreshment shops near the entrance.
A must visit when in Taiwan, this place is not far from Taipei City, only more that an hour ride. The rock formation is great. You can see and be more aware of how natures works. There are hundreds of tourist in this area, so taking photo is a little difficult. Due to people moving around, a lot of patience is needed if you want to take good photos. If you are a nature lover, you will love this place, looking at the different rock formation was an experience.
Nice place to visit! Though it is rather out of the way, it is quite breathtaking!! Many different shapes of rocks! Queen head, fairy shoes and etc! The toilets at the visitor centre is the cleanest (according to my tour guide). Worth a trip! Quite easy to take a nice good photo! When I was there, there was a queue to take a photo with the rock that has a shape like a Queen head. Very interesting!
Love love love this place. This place is such a beauty. Even the rain can't stop us from exploring the whole park. Come early to avoid the massive crowd and tour buses. Took us only 5 minutes to queue for a picture with the Queen's head rock. You should spend at least 2 hours here to really look at all the rocks formation as each are unique in their own way. This place is definitely the highlight of our trip.
A unique place on the northern part of Taiwan. Just an hour drive from Taipei. Place is neat and clean, with a small park in the entrance. Inside there's many unique rock shape and formation that's been shaped by the waves. Bring your wind jacket cause the wind can blow really hard here. Don't forget to eat at the many seafood restaurants around the park, as the seafood here are super fresh off the boat.
