Taipei Zhongshan Hall, Taipei

(3.4/5 based on 45 reviews on the web)
An important historic site built to mark the ascension of the Japanese Emperor Hirohito, Taipei Zhongshan Hall originally functioned as the city hall. The formal ceremony of the Japanese surrender of Taiwan to China in 1945 happened here, and afterward it served as the official meeting place of the ROC National Assembly and the venue of formal inauguration ceremonies. Major official gatherings (welcoming foreign diplomats) have always taken place here. Currently, the hall's several auditoriums host music and dance performances, ceremonies, and art exhibitions. You can attend one of these or simply explore the inside of the building at any time, but do be informed about the events before visiting. Also note that the staff speaks mainly Chinese. Put Taipei Zhongshan Hall into our Taipei family vacation planner and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

  • We stopped here to take some photos during our walking tour. The building was built by the Japanese colonial government as a city hall. It was later renamed after Dr Sun Zhong Shan. Interesting to vis...  more »
  • If you're in the Ximending area, do not miss it. The easiest thing to get is exit 5 of the Ximen underground. Eye, closed Mondays. The entrance is free. It is also known as the Taipei City Hall. Only see their ceilings on the ground floor, it is worth, no doubt. Here was signed the Japanese surrender of 1945, leaving the occupation of the island. It is built in concrete reinforced with steel, color light green, and designed so that to give you light, it was so brilliant that not I could see well, and thus not be bombed. Manifestations, are concentrated on the Esplanade in front of the entrance to various activities...

  • 台北中山堂距離西門站2-4分鐘路程。 是二級古蹟歷史古蹟, 早期台北有大型典禮都是在這舉辦。 建築很有風味。

  • Historical building with interesting detail. Also houses a fine music hall and at least a good restaurant with balcony.
  • Good shows and nice build.
