Songshan Cultural Creative Park, Taipei

4.1
#9 of 88 in Sightseeing in Taipei
Landmark Tourist Spot
Located in a renovated tobacco factory, Songshan Cultural Creative Park represents the city's largest arts complex. This site was originally built in 1927 by a Japanese tobacco company, but was completely redone in 2011 and is now a park, gallery, and creative meeting place. The old factory is full of art exhibitions and has a garden at its center. In addition to this garden, you can also walk to the attraction's ecology pond to learn about local plants and wildlife. Be sure to spend some time checking out the site's bookstore, record store, and arts shopping mall, where large groups can participate in workshops. • Honestly, I don't come here that much, mostly because there's nothing really special about the place. The area is nice, if you're into shopping malls, but then again so is Xinyi area, and there's much more variety there. Sometimes they have activities in the courtyard. The place is more of an excuse to put up another shopping center than it is a "cultural creative park" It's less crowded during the weekends since it's still a little walk from the nearest MRT station.
  • In Songshan Cultural & Creative Park, there will be a new section entitled “Technology and Living", a showcase of technology and design, highlighting the technology value-added advantage of creative industries in Taiwan. Last year’s Tokyo International Gift Show will expand it’s scale for showing more goods. The “Next" section will be presented at Golden Pin Design area of Taiwan Design Museum. The new venue will give the “Next" a better appealing outlook, and help the young designers stand out.
  • Perfect for artsy people. I like how they revamped this area (formerly a tobacco plant) to host sociocultural expos and other family-friendly activities. The premise houses a lovely lake, quaint coffee shops, and the Eslite mall stocked with unique products. There's a cinema, a great selection of eastern and western restaurants at the food court, and transparent shops that host arts & crafts workshops. The only con is that the area is slightly pricier than most other places in Taipei.
  • A bunch of small vendors selling handmade goods was set up when I was there. Very cool park with a few exhibition halls
  • This are not like the typical cultural centers in taiwan, this location features several warehouses frequently used for exhibitions and fashion shows. Aside from all of that there's a cool pond setting for those who are interested in scenery ( a little difficult to find using maps you'd usually have to ask a local to point to the correct entrance hopefully your Chinese is good加油!)
