One of the biggest and most famous of its kind in the country, Shilin Night Market Taipei thrives with labyrinths of small food stalls, carnival games, and shops. Smell the rich aromas of fresh seafood, grilled meat, vegetables, and fruit as you wander through the crowded market, which reaches its busiest in the middle of the night. When you head to the basement, look for restaurants where you can sit and enjoy a diverse range of dishes. Even though the market specializes in food and delicacies, some shops and boutiques sell souvenirs, clothes, and trinkets. • I'm not sure why exactly, but I was slightly underwhelmed with this night market. It had variety, was lively, good food, good people watching... but it was missing something I can't quite put my finge...  read more »
  • Shilin is not made furnishes no impression. A bunch of people, raggery of dubious quality which is even impossible to try. (((hard-found that bite. ... for the sake of appearance. More like NR on ninksia Street (unless you made a mistake in the name of the street)

  • This night market was much better than others. Had the chicken steak from stall called "mean demon", I think. It was crispy, fresh, and full of flavor. A sock vendor recommended this place over others and I spent 30 minutes looking for it but it was so worth it. Tiny, tiny stall had no indication that they sold chicken. Also had fresh sugarcane juice with a squeeze of calamansi which was good. Fried taro balls with salted egg and pork sung was also good. Had plenty of souvenir shops. Bought many useless, but cute gifts.
  • We went to Shilin Nightmarket around 7:00pm and the streets started to get crowded at that time. Here you can find many different types of food, that you surely never tried before, and shop in the numerous stores all around you. If you are afraid of the crowd, you might not like this place though, or try to get there early or on a weekday. But it is part of the ambiance of the place!
  • Landmark night market in Taipei - but touristy as you can expect! Still a great one-stop destination to get your fill on all famous Taiwanese street snacks: oyster omelette, large warthog sausage, fried chicken cutlets, giant squids etc ;)
  • Must go visit when visiting Taipei. Has a large selection of items from bags to food. If you're looking to shop, thsill probably be you're best bet. Aside form the heat and the overcrowdedness, it is a great place to bring your friends and family.
  • One of the most famous night markets Taiwan has to offer. Don't miss out on this experience! Plenty of food to try and shops to buy souvenirs from.
