2/28 Peace Park, Taipei

(4.1/5 based on 60+ reviews on the web)
The first European-style park in Taiwan, built in 1908, 2/28 Peace Park today represents a refuge from the city. Walk along the pathways and see old trees, a pond, and pavilions. The park also showcases some shrines and relics and holds two of Taiwan's most important museums. Part of the peace and quiet comes from the fact that the park stands as a memorial to a massacre from 1947. A monument in the park commemorates the event. Plan your visit to 2/28 Peace Park and a wealth of other attractions, well-known and undiscovered, using our Taipei travel itinerary planner.

  • Anyone else became a different impression if you 立寄reba on a sunny day was a nice Park in the rain may have. The main building of the Park is the National Taiwan Museum. There was "228 peace monument in the middle. To the left "Taipei 228 tertiary Memorial Hall" and "228 people statement 咖啡 Museum" was. Even across the road in another Park. Size of 1/4 of 228 peace tertiary Memorial Park Park and Yusuke Kotobuki Park, but was nothing special.

  • Lovely walk to this park with young kids. Lots to see and space to run. Birds, fish, squirrels... And playground too.  more »
  • Unwind in the spacious park, I think. Soothing green of trees and large, or wild squirrels. Stone foot pain, I couldn't walk.

  • Aside being a great park to relax and have a little walk, it's also a very important park in memory of the dreadful massacre happened in 1947 called 228 incident. You can find a peaceful memorial statue in the center of the park and also lots of squirrels running around it. This place is also the starting point of a local FREE walking tour called Old Town Taipei tour in case you want to learn more about the 228 incident.
  • Despite its longstanding reputation as a seedy place after dark, its actually not bad as a park. There are two train engines to look at, the old-school pagodas attract some nice birds, and there are typically musicians playing. The recent addition of barbed-wire barriers (maybe they've been removed by now) was a bit of an annoyance, but if you're visiting the natural history museum, take a walk here.
  • Beautiful park right in the middle of Taipei. Some good exercise equipment too. However, some of sketchy people around, homeless and mentally ill will often congregate in small numbers. Never had an incident before, but good to know
  • A park with a good number of history and memories of old Taipei city. It has been reformed and changed a lot. Yet still has lots of outdated settings and moods of antediluvian.
  • A delightful park in the middle of Taipei. Always something to see, if only the squirrels and the turtles. Next to the NTU Hospital MRT station and situated in an interesting neighborhood
