  • I brought this home and my parents really like it. However, I don't really like it since it is a bit too sweet while I prefer a sweet-slightlysour tangy pineapple cake. But I still think it's nice, ju...  more »
  • BE CAREFUL!! If you are a foreigner, check your receipt to make sure that they didn't charge you for more than what you purchased. The pineapple cakes are about $1 US (NT $30), $1.16 US (NT $35) per c...  more »
  • Overtime I, or any of my Taiwanese friends, goes to Taiwan, we'll spend a lot of money at Chia Te to buy Pineapple Pastries. The line is kind of long, but the amount of Taiwanese and foreign visitors ...  more »

  • Got there around 7:45am before the door opened at 8, and there was already a queue. Nice selection of baked goods. The folks who worked the floor were pleasant and customer service oriented. The women behind the registers were a different story. While being curt to customers at anytime is unacceptable, I can understand you might lack some patience at the end of your shift. Though the store just opened so I can't imagine why they would be difficult unless they are just purely rude and lack of any customer service skills. Even if you're products are good there are plenty of other places that make them just as well; if not better. With that kind of attitude I would be happy to vote with my feet and wallet and take my business elsewhere. I'm sure I am not alone in feeling this way.
  • This place actually does have the best pineapple cakes I’ve ever tried. I grew up eating pineapple cakes, so I wasn’t sure I was going to be impressed given the prices they were charging. But the cakes are perfectly moist, with buttery, crumbly outer crusts and a soft, perfect-pineapple interior. They’re definitely sweet, but not overwhelmingly so, and the mixed cake options like pineapple-cranberry/cherry/plum offer a good sour taste balance to the sweetness. It was crazy busy here when we visited in the middle of a weekday, so I suspect it’s always bustling.
  • My favorite and number one choice when it comes to pineapple cakes. It's not too sweet. Go for the original flavor it's the best. And if u want to save some luggage space to bring more back, use the small box for 6 pineapple cakes. There is only one stall in Taipei. Not available in other touristy areas. Worth the trip down.
  • Traditional pastry shop that has won a few awards that now tourists poured in to shop in big quantity. The prices have soared over the years, and now it seems more popular among tourists than locals. Most pastries are quite buttery and greasy though.
  • Came on a friend's recommendation. Really good pastries! Wasn't too sweet like some others that I bought previously. Loved the 太阳饼! Just remember to go earlier. I reached at around 8.15pm and most of the pastries were so out!
