Where to stay in Tainan

The long established city of Tainan offers plentiful accommodations for the range of visitors it receives each year. Primarily located to the west of the main train station, hotels range from the luxurious to the basic, and everywhere in between. Overlooking green areas or the canals, the most glamorous among the options here come in old and new buildings, while the more budget-friendly--including youth hostels, guesthouses, and simple hotels--occupy side streets close to the main transport hubs and historic buildings.

  • My wife, brother-in-law (both Taiwanese) and me (American) went to this site one Wednesday afternoon. We stopped at the entrance booth and were told it would cost $200 NT each to gain entrance to the ...  more »
  • The reservoir has a long, interesting history. There is a memorial to the Japanese engineer who built the dam in 1930. It's worth spending some time reading the background and getting a sense of what ...  more »

  • Nice water recreation area
  • Great place to take a walk or jog in the early morning.
