Shennong Street, Tainan

(3.6/5 based on 360+ reviews on the web)
Take in the trendy atmosphere of Shennong Street. One of the best-preserved streets in the city, it commemorates a great emperor whom people revered as a deity after his death. Though only around 100 m (324 ft) long, the strip features many shops selling antiques, handmade crafts, and jewelry, as well as restaurants and bars. Taste traditional Taiwanese cuisine, or take a walk to the temple at the end, dedicated to the emperor. Consider visiting at night, when the street really comes alive. • Tourist destinations listed in the guidebooks, but I went to a real nanchatte class harimayabashi and Sapporo clock units level. When you have lots of time, there is no help here.

  • To place where you get to take some guidebooks are written, you slip you can enjoy old town, actually older than say streets and buildings, and a good photo, I think. Going all the way are not as I felt personally. It might be just right about going somewhere to go and take a picture. At night the atmosphere is nice but a little sad. I was surprised was Japan's grocery store arrange Alonzo hotel.

  • This is an historic area of Tainan with many well-preserved old houses - think large wooden beams, high ceiling and wooden windows! Since the city government zoned the area, it became pedestrian friendly with many hidden gems! Discover artisan craft stores, vintage cafes and great restaurants!
  • Nice old alley call Sheng nong street. A mixture of old and new all captured in this 300m long alley. Some of the treasures lies inside the shop where the design and decor give a refreshing idea to design.
  • Love the atmosphere here. Old-looking tiny shops selling souvenirs and little vintage-style stuff. I went there at around 3 or 4 PM, not much cafe are open. I suggest going there at night time to see the street lit up.
  • Really nice historic old street. Historic houses are still being lived in, and have also been renovated as galleries, stores, cafes, and pubs. Conveniently located in the nightlife / arts district.
  • Small street with a few shops to see. The hours are very limited si plan your trip carefully.
