Religious Site
A historical landmark of the Eastern philosophy and the first of its kind in Taiwan, 台南孔子廟 Tainan Confucius Temple once acted as a central academy in the religion’s teachings. Opened in 1665 under the Koxinga dynasty, the elegant burnt sienna complex sits within a plush garden, with plenty of shady courtyards in which to relax. Make your way to the temple’s center, framed by two ceremonial gates leading to the Dacheng Hall and Hall of Edification, admiring Confucian calligraphy and tablets. Wander back to the central courtyard, where locals regularly practice Tai Chi underneath the Banyan trees, looking out over the sports field to a sea of colorful kites. • As to Taipei, but in older, this sanctuary dedicated to Confucius is characterized by its character stripped. More so, it deserves a visit which has a few rooms with interesting instruments of ritual music.

  • this place was beautiful, and even though it was nestled in the city, you couldn't hear the traffic too well. There was a small street band of classical/jazz musicians playing, and many locals and tourists enjoying the music and great scenery. It's across from a weekend market, so it's a great place for a walk in the city for some culture.
  • It's a pretty cool place. It was actually kind of quiet for a Sunday, not sure what was going on there! The temple itself costs 25NT to get in, which is absolutely reasonable. The area is very well maintained. Towards the left of the Temple there is also 'old street' that you can amble down. They sell lots of food and trinkets, prefect for a little stroll.
  • So beautiful and quiet place to go. We have visited a couple of Comfucius temples around Taiwan. This one is small and modest but worth a visit.
  • A temple constructed by Cheng Chen gong in the 17 century in honor of Confucius study or Kong Zi. A great and influential philosopher in chinese history. A big park with some temples to visit. NT50 for the entrance fees.
  • Relaxing area to take in some culture while walking the grounds. The views of the tower aren't the greatest, but the gardens are pretty.
