Kaomei Wetland, Taichung

4.4
#1 of 31 in Wildlife in Taiwan
An elevated boardwalk snaking through a biodiverse landscape, Kaomei Wetland provides a protected sanctuary for wildlife and plant life. Established in 2005, the wetlands span 300 ha (741.3 ac) of land, consisting of a vast plain of marshy terrain scattered with wind turbines. Stroll the seemingly never-ending length of boardwalk, looking out for tiny crabs and birds in the surrounding watery reeds. Try to time your visit to coincide with sunset, which offers particularly spectacular views across the shimmering expanse. • We've been driving around for about 1 hours, but unfortunately, it's already sunset. It's not too good to be disappointing, but the place is easy.

  • There are many holiday crowds in this area, public transport is less convenient than the public parking field is not enough; The road has to be particularly attentive to high-speed vehicles, and the red green lights are not installed. It is not recommended to disperse at noon because the sun is really strong! Early morning and evening is the best time to admire the scene, remember to bring water thirst oh.

  • For the first time in the United States wet, said the real road is not easy to find, the entrance of the highway under the standard diversion, but ... There is no other guideline than diversion. At the destination, pay spent 50 yuan parking (except for private parking, many red lines elsewhere, the police uncle was waiting for you at the scene). The Hoteis road can seem to go offshore, it just seems inappropriate for small children, in addition to the Hoteis way to allow people to participate in the attitude of the wood, the fence, so it is not very suitable for small children, because the small children will be very excited to go down to catch crabs ... Another very irresistible factor is ... The wind is super big ... Go down ... It seems that the body of children and small children is not good, easy to cool cold. This is a place for couple and adults.

Where to stay in Taichung

Look at the Central District for the main accommodations in Taichung. This area contains the majority of the city's high-rise chain hotels, both luxurious and standard, along with a few simple guesthouses, family-run boutique establishments, and hostels. Xitun District features a number of eco-friendly hotels, with the emphasis very much of green grounds, spa relaxation, and restaurants with diverse, seasonal menus. Guesthouses and apartment rentals can be found in the more residential districts encircling the city center.
