Kaomei Wetland, Taichung
(4.4/5 based on 480+ reviews on the web)
An elevated boardwalk snaking through a biodiverse landscape, Kaomei Wetland provides a protected sanctuary for wildlife and plant life. Established in 2005, the wetlands span 300 ha (741.3 ac) of land, consisting of a vast plain of marshy terrain scattered with wind turbines. Stroll the seemingly never-ending length of boardwalk, looking out for tiny crabs and birds in the surrounding watery reeds. Try to time your visit to coincide with sunset, which offers particularly spectacular views across the shimmering expanse. • 高美濕地就在海邊,所以經常有大風,白天看可能會覺得一般般,如果有夕陽就非常美麗。 交通也比較方便,有大巴車會到。 找個合適的天氣逛逛還是不錯的。
  • If you love nature and take photo, this is a must go for you!! The wetland close to the city of Taichung and it took about 40 minutes from the city. On the broad-walk, you could see hermit crabs, mud-...  more »
  • Please return the taxi 2000 went under. So were cars, and waiting for the free taxi but if you arrive in the local results are good. Sunset one hour before and after the stay you can see beautiful scenery.

  • Is the best wetlands for couples and travelers. The best part is the sunset with the reflection on the water surface. The wind turbines stand near the offshore orderly, shining under the moonlight. Strongly recommend!
  • Good place to bring your kids along. My kids have fun watching wetland low tide creatures coming out. Really a eye opener for city children. They saw clams, skipper, crabs, birds and worms. remember to bring slippers if you want to slip your legs into the water at the end of walk board.
  • A perfect way to end the day. Watch crabs as you walk along the boardwalk through the wetlands, dip your feet in the water at the end of the walk and watch the sunset, then enjoy the street food once you get back to the shore. Only drawback is there's tons of people, and traffic can be a bit slow to get in and out.
  • Amazing Sunset You Will Never Forget It is the best place to see the most beautiful sunset in the west of Taiwan. Then you can experience the unique wetland environment, feeling the sands and the seawater and watching the special animals living in the wetland.
  • Nice place to watch sunset but need to walk carefully when you draw back in night. If you are lucky enough, you can see the crab and mudskipper in the wetland, remember please just watch it, do not bring them home.
