  • Probably 5pm is my favorite time to go, before things get too crowded, but if you are looking for more excitement, go later. Duck into a quiet alley for a coffee at Cafe Buddha if you get tired. You c...  more »

  • I went to 10/2016. We went to kingtown Hotel Hongmei wetlands. It was a 300 NTD share taxi from kingtown Hotel Hongmei wetlands. Use this route so that apart from the Taichung train station and around efficiently. Night near Feng Chia University City, a college town, so the price is cheap. Food stalls crowded with a lot of people at the Center. Pepper cake and watermelon juice is good.

  • Wow, this place really gets hopping after 6pm, even on a weeknight! Weekends are way too busy to have a good time here I think. Great for smaller groups of people to hang out and eat. Lots of stalls and storefronts offering food and goods. Next to the University entrance so lots of people in their early 20's here. The stinky tofu here is great!
  • Awesome night market beside the university that sells huge range of food. You will have to spend hours of walking if you want to explore the entire area. Weekend crowds are crazy but hey, it's the most popular night market around here. Enjoyed it much
  • Definitely cannot eat here every night. Most everything is fried, and it's sickening (yet delicious). My only complaint is that some of the food isn't kept very warm. I had some lukewarm fried mushrooms. Not very fun.
  • More variety/selection and better prices than night markets in Taipei! Lots of long-running stalls here that deserve their reputation. Locals lining up are an easy indicator of where to go. Apparently, a number of chains/stalls in other night markets originated from here as well - so this might be one of the OG of Taiwanese night markets. Must-visit if you're in Taichung.
  • The Feng Chia (Jia) night market is massive. By far the biggest in Taichung and one of the biggest in Taiwan! There are an endless amount of stalls to eat, shop, or play at. I suggest coming with an empty stomach and an adventurous pallet (if you're not accustomed to Asian night markets) and have a great time. Perhaps set aside an hour or so and don't forget to haggle for clothes, shoes, and accessories...it's all part of the fun!
