Caihongjuan Village, Taichung

Categories: Landmarks, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
3.5/5 based on 480+ reviews on the web
Caihongjuan Village bursts with surreal artwork painted onto the sides of its buildings. Once a part of a network of inexpensive homes given to veterans of World War II and the Chinese Civil War, the village now contains rejuvenated structures painted by Huang Yung-fu Huang, a local artist who covered the buildings in colorful depictions of Chinese characters. Though you don't need to pay an entry fee, you can always donate, or alternatively purchase a souvenir from the gift shop, themed after the artwork in the village.
  • Went there at a rainy day yet still full of tourist, all waiting for the old man to come out. Very colourful place.
  • Colorful graffiti by an elderly veteran painter. Good picture taking spot for young couples. Accessible by bus and walking but much shorter travel time if you use a taxi.
