  • Small museum in the outskirts of 台中. Not including movies or interactive exhibits, expect to spend 2 hours walking at a leisurely pace. Very informative and a bit scary. Makes one think about how many buildings in Taiwan lack proper earthquake construction. Staff very friendly and helpful. Parking lot quite small and hard to find. Definitely worth a visit!
  • First hand view of actual fault line cutting through a previous school. Good exhibits on background of earthquake and details of the actual earthquake on 21 Sep 1999. Some hands on exhibits helping visitors to understand how & effects of earthquake. Kind of an eerie feeling knowing those exhibits of collapsed classrooms or sunken running track are actual and not set up. Liked the part showing learning of previous structures that were insufficient to withstand such earthquakes. And now with the learning how to build better, stronger buildings.
  • The closest one can get to a disaster area. You'll need around 2 hours to properly do this interesting museum which is within the site of a crumbled local school in Taichung during the Chi-Chi 1999 earthquake. It's a great day out providing the weather is good because there's outdoor exhibitions. Nice cafe within the site and very friendly staff everywhere. They can even call you a taxi to return to the city ( around 500 NT).
  • Huge place, recommend to take a day or least half a day to explore this place. You can feel the scars of the earthquake from the things that they’ve preserved
  • There were training of rescue dogs that day so the collapsed school was off limits to the public. I would really like to see that up close but it was still a good visit. I think the local knows because it was so quiet there when we visited.
