  • The night market is plentiful and sights, and the Taiwanese gift is a must-have pouch! All the prices were the same, and the food court on the first basement floor were delicious teppanyaki,

  • I returned from Jiufen. It still rains. To the largest night market Taiwan. You can see a covered night market even if it rains. The first floor is filled with games, souvenirs and stalls on the ground floor. Everyone has a strong appetite. I was overwhelmed by the view.

  • While in Taipei for business I decided to check out a couple of the local night markets. First was Shilin which was the largest of the many local markets. The Shilin market is easy to get to from all ...  more »

  • Great night market in Taipei! Huge selection of foods and places to shop. We walked around this place for several nights in a row. It took us roughly 3 nights to explore everything properly. There's a lot of cool stuff but generally speaking you start to notice the same things being sold across many vendors. Pricing for most branded things like Nike, Vans, Adidas, etc was about the same as back CA. Same for electronics. The best bargains are for the locally made shoe and apparel products. But just be careful of sizing and always insist on trying things on... some will not like this. Also, be careful of the seafood vendors... In particular the ones with BBQ lobster and oysters. They're overpriced and kind of gross actually. Overall a really fun experience and fun to walk around and see new things.
  • IMHO still one of the best night markets in Taipei. Best variety of food and goods stalls. The vast number of people that descend on the place most evenings is testament to the popularity of the market. Take your time ( you can't rush when you have to walk within the crowd anyway) and browse and taste a little of everything (and there is so much to, so pace yourself, and be adventurous).
  • There is a lot to explore here. Lots of food for sure as well as carnival games and shopping too. I tended to get a little lost in all of the different tents and stalls that were around. We have been to the night market in Taichung so there wasn't too much that was new here but there were different for items that were popular. Some of the lines were too long for us even in a Thursday so be prepared to queue up potentially. Having said that if you wanted to avoid a line there are plenty of stalls.
  • Very lively, crowded night market with combination of street food vendors, stall food vendors with seating and the usual blend of shopping and games at all night markets. Pictures taken from a basement food court store where we had dinner. Food is not that amazing but the hospitality is genuine. Food is served at the speed of fast good restaurants. Overall nice experience!
  • This is a really big and lively night market that's full of food, merchandise, and arcade/carnival game stalls spread out over several streets. We were impressed by the quality of delicious food that were offered. We didn't realize there's an underground part of the market (until I saw others' comments posted on here) as we were mostly looking for good eats before and after rock climbing at the nearby Red Rock bouldering gym. We'll definitely look for the underground portion of Shilin night market the next time we're back in Taiwan.
