Sanhsia Old Street, New Taipei

3.9
With striking architecture distinct from the rest of the island, Sanhsia Old Street allows visitors to soak up a truly Taiwanese atmosphere, through sampling food and window-shopping. Historically the area was an important center for the distribution of goods in northern Taiwan, with many shops selling dyes and teas. Most of the buildings here were built during the Japanese occupation of the early 20th century, and the preserved shops and temples make for interesting architectural sightseeing. Look out for the street's famous cow-horn croissants and candy-makers. • A half-day tour is OK. A lot of delicious food, all very price, but not good to stop the car to the nearby parking area first stop, Mi King, Hakka plate, croissants are recommended.

  • Old town (downtown), first visited on a package tour. The Temple so beautifully carved vivid. Local people felt the depth of faith (we don't offering), dedicated to prayer from the heart. Old town is very cold the rain is constant on the day was very impressive.

  • A nice historic place to take a walk and browse the gift shops. The streets are lined with tea shops, handmade wooden gifts, shoes and toy shops. The buildings are historic/restored brick. There’s not an awful lot to do but it’s a nice trip from Taipei for a change. Be sure to try the traditional Bullhorn shape croissants from the bakeries.
  • Nice old street architecture. Things abit commercialised, but locals do come here and shop as well. Try the bull horn pastry, there are a few stalls so just pick your liking. The longest original stall only sells one flavour. There is a stall that makes hand made candy. You can try the stretch candy.
  • One of the most beautiful temples in the country. Various vendors selling food, clothes, and toys on the Old Street. A good half-day trip from Taipei accessible by MRT & bus or TRA & bus.
  • Great place for one-day trip!
  • xu ma ma has tasty fermented tofu.(dofulu)
