Xiziwan, Kaohsiung

(160+ reviews on the web)
Nature / Park
Xiziwan boasts a picturesque beach, a functioning harbor, and historical buildings to explore and observe. Situated west of Kaohsiung City, and bordered by lush verdant hillsides, the town houses the Sun Yat-sen University campus, as well as the Lingsing Temple and the British embassy, perched high on the hilltop (panoramic views of the town and surrounding area can be enjoyed here). During the hotter months the black-sand beach, which sits right on the edge of the campus, transforms into a summer haven, with revelers playing volleyball, swimming in the coral-furnished waters, and bathing on sunloungers. Look out for bicycle hire stalls, which offer a good way to explore the campus and seaside neighborhoods, and consider heading to the beach before nightfall to witness a renowned ocean sunset. Put Xiziwan and other Kaohsiung attractions into our Kaohsiung itinerary planner, and watch your holiday take shape.
