Chishingtan Scenic Area, Hualien County

Nature / Park Must See
Just past the airport lies Chishingtan Scenic Area, a city zone dotted with calming parks, tropical palm trees, pleasant beaches, and art. The entire area rests at the tip of a crescent bay, where fishers sell seafood freshly caught in the Pacific. The 21 km (13 mi) trail offers many attractions, including a stone sculpture park, children's playground, botanical gardens, and stargazing section for astronomy lovers. Rent a bike to explore the visitor-friendly neighborhood with ease and examine the maritime culture that envelops it. Due to geological composition, the beach was once considered a stone-collector's haven, but picking valuable rocks recently became illegal. Our Hualien County vacation app makes visiting Chishingtan Scenic Area and other Hualien County attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

  • The first stop of the Flower Lotus is here, this day, the wind is very big, not holiday visitors less, went to the beach to see some very beautiful stone, can't help pick a small piece back for the century, the Pacific Ocean waves sound feel the whole people forget all the trouble.

  • The waves were great, and the waves that splashed ashore formed a beautiful circle of white Lightning. The coast is not allowed to swim or surf, and in the vicinity of the military base to look down, the entire arc of the crescent Moon Bay scenery is really beautiful.

  • Chishingtan beach itself is made up of pebbles likely brought down the rivers flowing through the gorges of Taroko. Not that comfortable to walk on but at least you won't get sand between your toes. T...  more »

  • We biked here! Well worth the visit. We came during mid November and it was quite foggy during the afternoon. We will revisit when it is earlier in the day to try our luck! Great place for a walk and or bike ride. Careful, the tide comes out of nowhere and can take you out. When it is rainy, it can get extremely windy and cold. So dress appropriately.
  • Great place! The typhoon on 13-15 Oct ‘17 created huge waves, nice long stretch of rocky beach. Plenty of hotels around the area but I rather stay at Hualien town area...
  • Very nice beach in Hualien and the view over the ocean is very good during sunny day. The sun could be blazingly hot in the afternoon. There is a Giant in statue behind the beach. Many people came here for swimming though.
  • Good place to relax. It's quite chill just sitting by the beach and enjoying the breeze. Do not swim here, it's quite dangerous.
  • Good..Calm and scenic atmosphere....Less crowded and beautiful experience..

Where to stay in Hualien County

Budget-conscious travelers in Hualien should look at the area around the main train station: densely populated, the district boasts a number of restaurants, tour operators, and cafes, along with the bulk of economical accommodations. Meanwhile, the areas around Meilunshan Park and the harbor have wider boulevards and a more relaxed, suburban feel. Here, a number of boutique hotels and some high-rises cater to those wanting a little luxury and more laid-back surroundings.
