Landmark
Discover traditional Taiwanese wooden architecture at Neiwan Old Street. Walk across the suspension bridge into the street itself and feel the atmosphere reminiscent of the past. Stroll along the streets and stop in one of the restaurants to try ginger lily-flavored glutinous rice, Hakka tea, Hakka rice cakes ("muachi"), and many other dishes. Pay a visit to the old cinema--an antique building converted to a restaurant where you can watch old movies while having your meal. Buy handmade souvenirs in quaint shops or from vendors working along the street. To visit Neiwan Old Street and other attractions in Hsinchu County, use our Hsinchu County travel itinerary planner.

  • Touristic Spot - A bit like a night market, with lots of shops offering local souvenirs and packaged foods, as well as your typical street foods. Well preserved and not a bad place to bring the family on the weekend. Get there early (before noon) or else it gets crowded.
  • Place to buy tourist tat, and kids games. Located in the foot-hills; some nice scenery.
  • Interesting place to visit. Lots of local food.
  • Nice scenery around it, but the crowds and the plastic crap for sale degrade the experience. Good traditional food, but too much non-local junk sold alongside.
  • I came here riding a scooter from ZhuBei. It can get crowded sometimes but it's still very nice to enjoy some local food. There are some specialty coffee shops on the other side of the bridge (mountain area).
