Neiwan Old Street, Hsinchu County
(3.4/5 based on 70+ reviews on the web)
Discover traditional Taiwanese wooden architecture at Neiwan Old Street. Walk across the suspension bridge into the street itself and feel the atmosphere reminiscent of the past. Stroll along the streets and stop in one of the restaurants to try ginger lily-flavored glutinous rice, Hakka tea, Hakka rice cakes ("muachi"), and many other dishes. Pay a visit to the old cinema--an antique building converted to a restaurant where you can watch old movies while having your meal. Buy handmade souvenirs in quaint shops or from vendors working along the street. To visit Neiwan Old Street and other attractions in Hsinchu County, use our Hsinchu County travel itinerary planner.

  • We took our "city friends" here and they liked it. It has been developed to accommodate large amount of visitors. It's deeply commercialized. Very convenient if you are looking for a easy stroll in th...  more »
  • 從中和出發,先到北埔老街,然後來到內灣,內灣的風景宜人,舊戲院很有風情,大嬸婆薑母粽很可口,是很適合閤家出遊的好地方.對了,也要記得去走走吊橋.
  • There's a wide variety of street stands selling products from snacks to souvenirs. I visited here on the weekend so it wasn't crowded at all. I don't visit old streets much so I can't say of this place is better than most. Take my review with a grain of salt.
  • It was alright, there wasn't really anything old to see despite the name. Kind of felt like every other touristy destination outside the cities. A bit like a night market but during the day and full of people on the weekend. There was something called the "Ginger Lily" which is supposedly special to this area. They sell drinks made with it which tasted like regular ginger to me.
  • Best to reach there by noon to grab a quick bite and then walk around, good view here.
  • Nice place. There are many shops with surprising foods. I would recommend the fried flowers (at the end of the street, just before the bridge)
  • The place is alright. A local market with plenty of snacks. Rather crowded during weekend.
