  • If you are in Taiwan, wherever you are, you can't not go at the Alishan National Forest. You can get there by car, by bus, bike or with the characteristic Alishan railway traveling from Chiayi (check the internet for schedules and methods). My son and I Alessio went in September during a day of cold, wind and rain won't tell you. And because of these exceptional climatic conditions will remain as one of the most beautiful hikes ever made. We went with a van because the Alishan train, due to strong wind, was not running. A journey of nearly two hours along a road that, like the curves of a slithering serpent, takes you to the top through landscapes and unforgettable views. Then, as soon as we got to the recreation area, we moved always rigorously walk (see attached photo). I don't know how many steps we walked uphill and downhill, along paths kept in perfect working conditions, but we certainly set a record that is unlikely to be exceeded. You find yourself immersed in silence, in a surreal peace that will lead you to feel at one with the goddess Nature and no matter who your God: you find yourself closer to him. Suspension bridges, streams and small waterfalls, pagodas, ponds from posters, ancient trees under whose hair you could organize a treasure hunt or where on the top, like the good Ulysses, you could build a great read: a forest that welcomes and embraces you between the embrace of its trees and its reserved beings. Superb, indescrivibile, immense, magnificent: over 1400 hectares of woodland (1 ha = 10,000 square meters) with three different genarazioni of trees. And I'll stop there because any Word does not make it about what nature under the wise man good I will give. You'll find everything from logistics to recreation, Museum, ecoeducativo Centre, hotels, restaurants, souvenir shop and box office, all surrounded by a green landscape. And don't forget to visit the Forest Railway with trains and features wooden stations and I recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes, hat, backpack with Cape, linen, wool sweater and brings in tow water, food, a good map of the area, binoculars and compass. Open 12:00 am on 24. Seeing is believing. Wombat05
