Beitou Hot Spring Museum, Beitou

#3 of 55 in Museums in Taipei
The largest bathhouse in this part of the world at the time it was built, Beitou Hot Spring Museum invites you to start exploring the rich history and culture of Beitou’s hot springs. A Japanese magistrate built the Victorian-style building with a Japanese interior in 1913. The red brick first floor houses the original public baths, where a large central pool, elegantly decorated with stained glass windows, was reserved for male customers only. In a niche in front of its entrance, see a giant piece of "hokutolite" or Beitou stone--a precious mineral with healing properties. The wooden second floor features a tatami lobby and several exhibition areas, including a multimedia auditorium where you can watch an educational video about the museum. The view from the balcony explains why in the 1970s, Beitou was known as the Taiwanese Hollywood. • Its appearance retains the style of the original Japanese architecture, there is a espresso espresso of the old flavor, especially its entrance is in the second floor, in order to protect the wood floor into the inside of the slippers. The Museum of the Warm Springs Museum is a large public warm spring bath, the past is to provide the public bathroom of the people's Price springs, now is to know the Beitou of the Museum of Knowledge, more than the collapse of the Rice Hall, in the days of the day is the people bathing after the cool, dining rest place, unfortunately not open, can only be photographed in the side of the dry addictive.

  • Small places are fun. Although the door stripping process is not very clear. But there's a lot to see inside. There are also some photos taken together. Interactive stuff. It's also equipped with art.

  • The place here shows how Beitou started in the historical place during the Japan invasion. The place was converted and changed over the years. Luckily the museum retained the original form of the most famous hot spring during the time. So much historic sentimental here. The place at the basement still show the original hot spring. Such a magnificent place. Really nice
  • I really enjoyed visiting the Beitou Hot Spring Museum even though I did not spend much time here. It's definitely worth a visit at the museum is on the way to the thermal valley. It was nice to learn more about the hot springs that are available and also about the history of it as we visited the place.
  • The museum is informative and interactive with opportunities for visitors to experience sitting on the traditional tatami mat or walk into a hot spring tub for photos. It is very clean and requires visitors to change into slippers in the museum. Museum is closed on Mondays.
  • A real life simulation of the old days when hot spring and sauna were at peak. The Japanese style architecture is an IG popular spot.
  • Nice little museum about history of Beitou hot spring since Japanese era, you have to chane your shoes to slipper that they freely provided. There is a little nice waterfall nearbye just across the bridge.
