One of Syria's 700 abandoned settlements, Dead City of Serjilla ranks among the most complex and well-preserved. Here you can learn about the local history of this 5th-century city, and how its citizens lived, working on olive fields and in vineyards. The remains of the once prosperous settlement include temples, houses, and public baths. One of the highlights is the two-story villa that has remained complete; behind it you can see some of the machinery used in the production of olives.   • Nothing more to be said unfortunately, this part of the world is more accessible to tourists and lovers of old stones.

  • Never been to a place like this in all my travels. It is steeped with mystery and has a feel of sereneness that I have never experienced before. 
  • After the Arab conquest these Byzantine City went into disrepair but Serjilla is very well preserved and readable. someone still lives there cultivating goats and with a poor architecture. a place intact that tells a story that is marginal compared to the last major events
