Zurich Toy Museum, Zurich

3.3
#7 of 29 in Museums in Zurich
Appreciate toys and their relation to culture at Zurich Toy Museum, where the collection covers these mainstays of childhood from the 19th century to the 1920s. The museum illustrates the development of civilization through toys: dolls whose costumes showcase changing fashions, dollhouses that illustrate different architecture and lifestyles, and an exhibit of cars and trains that tracks the evolution of transportation. Elsewhere in the museum you can pore over old board games and children's books. • The Zurich toy museum is a small, but interesting place. Located at the top of an office building, the exhibit is pretty small and cramped but has some interesting pieces. I thought the Migros doll ex...  more »
  • Love toys, I sew clothes for their dolls, collect collection, many I have played (and me for 60). Looking for a museum that was a cold day, but we did not give up. Finally, asking people, found-and grass-snake! p-it closed at 5:00 pm and there was already a few minutes more. But we still decided to try their luck and boarded the lift that brought us to the apartment-Museum and the hostess opened the elevator and kindly showed us a collection, part of which still collected her mom. She spoke in English, but I understand. because this is my favorite theme. Very nice woman, I purchased it two ancient porcelain doll dishes too from her mom's collection. In the second Hall with robots we didn't go, TC did not want to delay the mistress. In the collection of dolls, houses, school class, locomotives, etc.

Where to stay in Zurich

As the financial hub of the country, it shouldn't come as a surprise that staying in Zurich usually comes at a price. The city puts emphasis on its glamorous four- and five-star hotels and international chains that appeal to traveling professionals. There a handful of hostels and guesthouses for the budget-conscious traveler. When staying in Zurich, you'll find that the majority of the accommodation offerings are in close proximity to the city core, either on the left or right bank. The left bank is the glitzier of the two, with its grand restaurants, shops, and proximity to the banks and train station. The right side, as home to the Old Town, charms with its historical atmosphere. Here you'll find independently owned boutique hotels and some mid-range options. The city also sports several hotels geared toward wellness, with spas and saunas. These tend to be pricey too, but you're guaranteed a truly relaxing retreat.
