An oasis of greenery on a wooded hill east of the city's downtown area, Zoo Zurich shelters over 2,000 animals of about 250 different species. In addition to a large aquarium and open-air aviary, the park features special areas dedicated to African animals, as well as large enclosures for red pandas, snow leopards, tigers, lions, and otters. A replica of a tropical rainforest, the zoo's top attraction, provides visitors with a hands-on learning experience about the natural environments of Madagascar. If you time things right, you may be able to catch the daily penguin parade. Check the website for special events and guided tour options. • At the entrance we were met by Grandpa, who followed the order at the entrance, and who missed us with a scooter. For storage of the scooter had to pay 5 francs, this old man with robs a child scooter jokingly, in German, and our son in Russian porugal him for it. Astounding purity, animal care, at the checkout give program, with information about animal feeding. We should go there in good weather all day and take a walk, you can take a snack, the place for this, and you can even sit on the rocks and relax, many cafes.

  • Good to see there at all. Inviting to be abolished are great and are badly performed observation mista. With the Prazskou Zoo is absolutely neporovnatelne. Thousands of nam both Lakshmi Park than a zoo. From a cell we saw the zoo about 3-5 type of exotickych to be abolished. I know from the music I need your peace but meli mit could see too. Much better Zoo mame in 1913. Input is prepaaleny whereas what the Zoo grounds.

  • Not a huge zoo, but they have all the "Staples" that you would expect to see at a zoo. Our 2 year old definitely enjoyed herself. A huge Savannah exhibit is under construction, to be finished by 2020. I guess that will be interesting to visit.
  • Very nice Zoo. Most problem is the parking places around so better go there in the morning to no struggle with that. Decent space for every zoo member. Animals are in good shape not like in some eastern Europe zoo's. Take your kids and stop reading reviews ;) but the way annual abonament is cheaper than 4 entrance for a family of 3 members. So if you like zoos just take your photos and get the annual abonament .
  • Amazing rainforest habitat. A lot of indoor activities. Great all seasons. Opening a big Savannah area in 2020 with giraffes and zebras.
  • Amazing, took about four hours. Best zoo I've ever been too. Animals were all up and active and seemed happy! Well maintained, not overly crowded! Great day!
  • It is always great to visit the zoo in Zürich. A lot of fun for the kids and a good mix of animals, playgrounds, rest areas. There is a great diversity of animals and the zoo keeps expanding. They recently opened a huge area for the elephants (with a swimming pool to see them swim from underwater) and a jungle dome and are preparing an australian area (koala, kangourous...) and a savanna (girafe, rhinos,...). The food in the restaurants is also good and rather diverse (some alternatives to the usual chicken nuggets and fries).

Where to stay in Zurich

As the financial hub of the country, it shouldn't come as a surprise that staying in Zurich usually comes at a price. The city puts emphasis on its glamorous four- and five-star hotels and international chains that appeal to traveling professionals. There a handful of hostels and guesthouses for the budget-conscious traveler. When staying in Zurich, you'll find that the majority of the accommodation offerings are in close proximity to the city core, either on the left or right bank. The left bank is the glitzier of the two, with its grand restaurants, shops, and proximity to the banks and train station. The right side, as home to the Old Town, charms with its historical atmosphere. Here you'll find independently owned boutique hotels and some mid-range options. The city also sports several hotels geared toward wellness, with spas and saunas. These tend to be pricey too, but you're guaranteed a truly relaxing retreat.
