Where to stay in Zurich

As the financial hub of the country, it shouldn't come as a surprise that staying in Zurich usually comes at a price. The city puts emphasis on its glamorous four- and five-star hotels and international chains that appeal to traveling professionals. There a handful of hostels and guesthouses for the budget-conscious traveler. When staying in Zurich, you'll find that the majority of the accommodation offerings are in close proximity to the city core, either on the left or right bank. The left bank is the glitzier of the two, with its grand restaurants, shops, and proximity to the banks and train station. The right side, as home to the Old Town, charms with its historical atmosphere. Here you'll find independently owned boutique hotels and some mid-range options. The city also sports several hotels geared toward wellness, with spas and saunas. These tend to be pricey too, but you're guaranteed a truly relaxing retreat.

  • I think you have to see this if you go to Switzerland, just so you can get a bit of the history of the country. This museum is enough to see in a few hours but has a lot on the military, political and...  more »
  • for history lovers, not much to do there, travelers tip : you can store your small luggage in locker by putting 1 frank coin in locker which you will get back once you empty your locker.  more »

  • Excellent place to get lost in such abundance of knowledge. Good use of technology to showcase history & culture. Nice areas to keep kids engaged. But need atleast half a day to peacefully enjoy and sink in the knowledge. By far the best museum I've been to.
  • Nice building quite modern design from the back view. Big nice grassy park in the back along the river. People walking, jogging and sun bathing ...relaxing place for everyone .
  • Amazing museum. Second only to Deutsches museum in Munich. The layout is a bit confusing but the exhibits are detailed and seem painstakingly organised. Catch the Russian Revolution exhibit if you can.
  • Lots to see. Some areas very text heavy but others with interactive games and questions. Worth a visit.
  • Very nice but not well explained.. We ended up visiting only half of the Museum.
