  • The most beautiful church of zurich and one of the few Catholic Apostolic, worth a visit, I discovered by chance she is off the tourist route.

  • A beautiful Catholic Church and hidden, just released, but that really deserves a visit even if you're not Catholic, rich in your architecture, a treasure not mentioned in guidebooks.

  • When you have visited Zurich, reformed churches, as the Interior is, after all, something dry, such as Huldrych Zwingli and his contemporaries wanted it, so it can be experienced as something of a liberation to get into the beautifully decorated the Liebfrauenkirche, the Catholic Church, which is situated high up, of hillside, not far from Zurich Hauptbahnhof. The Church was designed by the architect August Hardegger and built 1892-1894. The architecture brings reminiscent of early Italian construction style. I came immediately to mind Basilica di Sant'Ambroggio in Milan, when I saw Liebfrauenkirches high, Square Tower. Inside the Church is a Basilica-like space, also conveys the Italian inspiration, with a wide nave separated by two smaller times. Here is no side chapels. The walls are everywhere, nice decorated with a thematic frieze of Fritz Kunz. The style is backward-looking, but it fits very well into the space, and it is fascinating to walk around and see the many pictures that are placed high up high up under the Windows, that sheds light into the room. As mentioned is the church a piece up the mountain, and it might be a little out of breath when taking the trip on foot from Zürich Hauptbahnhof and up to the Church, but it is worth to go up here and view this church, which is so different than the big, reformed churches in the city.
