Admire the distinctive stained-glass windows designed by artist Marc Chagall at Fraumünster Church, a major landmark in the city's Old Town. Erected on the remains of a former Benedictine abbey for aristocratic city women, this 13th-century Gothic church features an eye-catching blue spire rising proudly over the city's skyline. In addition to Chagall's windows in the choir stalls and the southern transept, which depict various biblical stories, the church also boasts a 9 m (30 ft) tall stained glass by Swiss painter Augusto Giacometti. • Sadly underwhelmed by the Chagall stain glass art in this church. Thankfully, it's only 5 CHF which is inexpensive for Switzerland, but I'm not sure why Chagall was even chosen to represent these stories when they are in direct contradiction to his own beliefs. I can appreciate Chagall's work, and I can appreciate spaces that revere theism, but the two merged together like this lacked the ability to make an impression. No photography allowed inside, FYI.
  • Beautiful looking clock tower. A must see when in Zurich. But beware my fellow travellers! Full of car jackers and thiefs near the parking zone surrounding this beautiful piece of architecture. Be sure to not leave your backpacks unattended in the car if you parking around that area!
  • Wonderful green and golden top, you can spot from afar and it stands out from the common brownish and greyish colors of the surroundings.
  • Chagall stain glass is definitely worth seeing! Avoid it on cloudy days or late evenings as you won't get a nice view of Chagall's work. Better on sunny days or before it starts getting dark!
  • Beautiful church, loved the Chagall strained glass. Pay 5F for the audio, well worth it.
