Where to stay in Zurich

As the financial hub of the country, it shouldn't come as a surprise that staying in Zurich usually comes at a price. The city puts emphasis on its glamorous four- and five-star hotels and international chains that appeal to traveling professionals. There a handful of hostels and guesthouses for the budget-conscious traveler. When staying in Zurich, you'll find that the majority of the accommodation offerings are in close proximity to the city core, either on the left or right bank. The left bank is the glitzier of the two, with its grand restaurants, shops, and proximity to the banks and train station. The right side, as home to the Old Town, charms with its historical atmosphere. Here you'll find independently owned boutique hotels and some mid-range options. The city also sports several hotels geared toward wellness, with spas and saunas. These tend to be pricey too, but you're guaranteed a truly relaxing retreat.

  • I love this place for a sunday brunch. I found it quite difficult to find a good breakfast and lunch in ZUrich, with eggs Benedicte, omelettes and the similar. This cafe has a big choice fo coffees, T...  more »
  • Thia cafe looks like a retro type of cafe and hot choclate with cream is my favourite . Cakes are so good. But service of the staffs is really bad  more »

  • I don't normally give such poor reviews but this one is really an exception. Lured by its supposedly famed hot chocolate - you can only imagine how disappointed I was to find the cup containing a light brownish liquid with the consistency of coffee rather than toffee (as proper dark chocolate should). The taste didn't help either as it was reminiscent of the powdered hot chocolate you can get off the shelves of any supermarket. The atmosphere of the place is nice and the staff friendly but I certainly wouldn't recommend it's hot chocolate
  • Hot chocolate was one of the best I've ever had in my life. Iced chocolate on the other hand, don't even think of getting one!
  • Very popular esp during Easter and Christmas time. Nice decoration and beautiful interior. Worth of trying the desert there, although a bit pricy.
  • This is a very cozy place with tasty desserts and tea. My favourite atmosphere is on the second floor with interesting design. I guess every evening there is a lot of people here. Of course, that isn't a cheap place
  • Another pricey spot but non the less worth it if you are looking for a treat. Everything was decadent without being too sweet. I would definitely suggest you stop by and enjoy the beautiful cafe with a luxurious dessert.
