Inspirock Rating:
4.9/5 based on 2,200+ reviews on the web
King of the Swiss Alps, the colossal The Matterhorn rises above the picturesque resort town of Zermatt, on the border between Switzerland and Italy. The mountain's summit is 4,478 m (14,692 ft) high, its four steep faces soaring above the surrounding glaciers and facing the four points of the compass. First ascended in 1865 by a team of alpinists led by English mountaineer Edward Whymper, the pyramid-shaped mountain continues to draw ambitious climbers from around the globe. Less audacious visitors can still access sweeping views of the scenery by taking an aerial cable car departing from Zermatt up to a dizzying height of about 3,800 m (12,500 ft). • This beautiful mountain-shaped either landscape around the world; Said the safest course Gonergrat go by mountain train from Zermatt (rather than climbing, mountain views). Gornergrat hotel also has a restaurant and aiming for lunch no later than 9 o'clock to Zermatt to start. Gas came out in the afternoon mountain is where it often becomes invisible landscape. Tickets can be also walking wicket on the way back from the Gonergrat, to make the hike up to the next station. In any case the leg firmly should be. Is walking slowly because over the course of the 3000 meters altitude sickness may have the knack. Should refrain from alcohol for lunch.

  • We got cable car on the Matterhorn to the glacier paradise and it is spectacular. Certainly can not miss those views as you are going up by cable car, from how you can see the glacier and Zermatt view from the heights while you go up little by little. An incredible journey and that I recommend to everyone.

  • The Matterhorn is another must-go when in Switzerland. Most important thing is to keep a spare day in Zermatt just in case if the weather does not co-operate.
