Sunnegga, Zermatt

4.5
For an exceptional view of the Matterhorn, visit Sunnegga, a ski domain that makes up part of Zermatt resort. You can reach the area by underground funicular, which travels to the 2,288 m (7,506 ft) peak in just four-and-a-half minutes. The area has many beginner runs, making it a good option for families, and benefits from all-day sun, which helps to moderate the chilly weather on top. Refuel at one of the many restaurants on the peak after skiing. Put Sunnegga and other Zermatt attractions into our Zermatt vacation site , and watch your holiday take shape.

  • Went climbing without the use of I, cable car from Zermatt, but is filled with people who came with the transportation of 頼meta to take pictures, I was surprised too!

  • That is a trip which is very easy to make. (Hiking shoes and appropriate clothing). Early morning travel because it is still alone and can shoot great pictures. Very well, I find the 5 Lake hike (above start because otherwise quite exhausting)

  • 5-Seenweg hike from Blauherd (lunch, including over 4 hours) after finishing at the Sunnegga and rent a kick bike, ran down to the town of Zermatt. Rode for the first time, but driving became accustomed to quickly. Taking a rest in the restaurant on the way, arrived at the foot in about an hour. So enjoy the majestic surroundings, far from the Matterhorn-including in terms of the impact of landscape Sunnegga-Rothorn area quite discouraged.

  • Really nice cafe. Good food and a nice place to have a drink. Stunning views of the Matterhorn. Take the next cable car for the walk to Stellisee and stop on the way back for another coffee
  • Great underground train to Sunnegga. A few minutes up to Sunnegga. The hike back down to Zermatt was great and scenic that takes about 1.5 hours. Recommended
  • Fast trip - 4.5 mins - through granite carved tunnel from Zermatt up to Sunnegga. Great value. Mountain skate-bike hire at top, if you feel like an alternative trip down! Superb views of Matterhorn from top, and free cable shuttle down to lake.
  • Beautiful place with view on the matterhorn and a winter/summer kids paradize!
  • Great views of the Mountains with good walking back to Zermatt.

Where to stay in Zermatt

When staying in car-free Zermatt, proximity to amenities is key, as you'll be mostly restricted to traveling by foot. Populated by charming Swiss chalet-style hotels and inns, Zermatt may be humble in character, but not in price. Most of the hotels are fairly expensive, though there is the odd hostel and pension that might offer a slight discount. To save yourself a bit of money, look into renting an apartment in lieu of a hotel. If you're really strapped for cash, consider camping instead--this area offers a year-round mild climate.
