I think this mountain top has the best views if it is a cloudless day. There are plenty of trails to take and it is a must see in my opinion.  more »

With these modern cabins you get there early, maybe even too early, high, very high up. If you have headaches, this is due to the fact that there are air conditioned well before you climb so high. However passes and worth it

  • One of the three routes to the higher altitude. It is less popular than the other two but it's equally good. Good scenery and peaceful view.

Where to stay in Zermatt

When staying in car-free Zermatt, proximity to amenities is key, as you'll be mostly restricted to traveling by foot. Populated by charming Swiss chalet-style hotels and inns, Zermatt may be humble in character, but not in price. Most of the hotels are fairly expensive, though there is the odd hostel and pension that might offer a slight discount. To save yourself a bit of money, look into renting an apartment in lieu of a hotel. If you're really strapped for cash, consider camping instead--this area offers a year-round mild climate.
