  • Stunning views at almost 4000m above sea level. There is an ice cave with sculptures and a tube slide. The panoramic observatory offers a breathtaking view of Matterhorn and Klein Matterhorn.
  • About 3800m high up in the sky with a breathtaking view of the Matterhorn and the entire mountain range. There's also an ice cave there with a tube slide. Also there's a restaurant there with a panoramic view of the entire place. Prices are steep though. You can also ski here. Weather here is always cold so bring a down jacket to combat the sub zero temperatures.
  • If the clouds are there do not worry. Have warm clothes and wait. Please note it does close at 4pm so plan your trip in advance
  • Wow. If you are anywhere close, you need to take a day to visit and experience the "Matterhorn Glacier Paradise" at the top of the highest cable car station in Europe (3,883 m), It is both breathtaking and emotionally stirring. The cost is 85 - 100 Euro per person, but well worth it. Wow.
  • Incredible place. A must visit when you're in Zermatt area. Gondola is very expensive, but the ticket is included in the price if you buy a reound trip. Great views toward matterhorn as well.

Where to stay in Zermatt

When staying in car-free Zermatt, proximity to amenities is key, as you'll be mostly restricted to traveling by foot. Populated by charming Swiss chalet-style hotels and inns, Zermatt may be humble in character, but not in price. Most of the hotels are fairly expensive, though there is the odd hostel and pension that might offer a slight discount. To save yourself a bit of money, look into renting an apartment in lieu of a hotel. If you're really strapped for cash, consider camping instead--this area offers a year-round mild climate.
