  • In the Kunstmuseeum Winterthur, an incredible journey through the history of art is possible on a relatively small area. All the big names with some important works are represented. Interesting new, constantly changing exhibitions represent contemporary art. It is invited to Vernisage with interesting tours. A membership in the Art Association is also highly recommended. The offered year gifts are sometimes extremely attractive!

  • In the room at the top I found the Sigismund Righini painter (1870-1937), I didn't know. His work on the color I liked and I've had fun in all these colors on walls also very colorful. Another floor you can see works by Ferdinand Hodler.

  • Winterthur's Art museum is housed in a beautiful building, built 1912-1915 after drawings by architects Walter Furrer and Robert Rittmeyer. In 1995 the Museum got a modern extension, which, however, is not visible from the Museum's home. The Museum is operated by the private association Kunstverein Winterthur, who founded the collection back in 1848. From the beginning, the focus was on contemporary art, and the visit to this museum opens with a very nice collection of French works by Pissarro, Sisley, Monet, Toulouse-Lautrec, Degas, Gauguin, van Gogh, Henri Rousseau, Eugène Boudin, Odilon Redon, Félix Vallotton, Pierre Bonnard and Edouard Vuillard. Then continue with a number of later artists, including Georges Braque, Oskar Kokoschka, Erich Heckel, Max Beckmann, Pablo Picasso, Wassily Kandinsky, Juan Gris, Fernand Léger, Robert Delaunay, Paul Klee, Piet Mondrian and many, many others. You can on the Internet reading about all the artists, whose works are hung in the Museum. Remarkably for the Danish guests visiting the Museum is that the museum owns an image of Asger Jorn. But what really took your breath away me in this museum, was the first floor with van Gogh's, Monet's, Pissaros, Sisleys and the other French artists ' works. In the middle of the Hall stands a copy of Pierre de Wissant, one of the six people in the famous group the citizens of Calais. You can stand in front of the shape and view the next images hanging on the wall behind it: Pierre de Wissant between van Gogh's images of a summer night and the post man in Arles. Pierre de Wissant, next to the post man in Arles and Gauguin's picture of three cows in landscape with trees. Pierre de Wissant next to Monet's water lilies. And so on ... Magical! Kunstmuseum Winterthur is a great experience if you are happy for images of the impressistiske painters van Gogh and the classic Modernists. We must of course also visit Museum Oskar Reinhard, which is practically next door to the art museum and also the Sammlung Oskar Reinhard am Römerholz. You have museumspas, which can answer it, if you look at these three museums on the same day, then you have free transport with the little museumsbus, who is a taxi that runs between the different museums in Winterthur. The staff at the ticket office or at turiskontoret provides information on bus departure times.
