Mont Blanc, Swiss Alps

4.5
#58 of 102 in Nature in Swiss Alps
Mont Blanc de Courmayeur , is a point on the south-east ridge of Mont Blanc that forms the peak of the massive south-east face of the mountain. It is connected to the main summit via the Col Major .Despite its minimal topographic prominence, it appears as the second-highest peak in the Alps on the official list of Alpine four-thousanders of the Union Internationale des Associations d'Alpinisme for its impressive appearance and its importance for mountaineering. The peak can be reached from the main summit over the Bosses ridge. The ascents over the south-east / Peuterey and south / Brouillard ridges are very challenging.Mont Blanc de Courmayeur is marked as lying entirely within Italy on the Italian Istituto Geografico Militare map, while on the French Institut Géographique National map the summit lies on the border between France and Italy. A demarcation agreement, signed on 7 March 1861, defines the local border between France and Italy. Currently this act and the attached maps are legally valid for both the French and Italian governments.Huts Refuge Aiguille du Goûter (3,817 m) Bivacco Eccles (3,850 m) Rifugio Monzino (2,590 m)

  • In the final, they will climb to the top. Go up by cable car up to 3802 m. It takes the village called Chamonix. It is better if you get your tickets online because the wait is very long and there are too many people waiting. It's worth the price and wait, no doubt. There is no cold in summer in Chamonix, but yes you have to go very warm up. The view is the most impressive thing I've seen in my life

  • The views to the tunnel are spectacular, but the cost of going through this tunnel is over priced in comparison to other toll paying routes. Considering how long this tunnel has been in operation it i...  more »

  • It was very good expedition. I spent 13 days with honest people. This adventure was enormous experience for me !
  • It was an amazing experience. The cable bus climbs to the top of mountain in about just 15mins. Reduce your activity since O2 level is significantly lower at the top. You may feel sick. Glacier is magnificent!
  • The place is beautiful, but be aware if you go by car, you must pay around 100€ if you are crossing from France to Italy on tolls only.
  • Classic game I have paid my bill for this movie is the year and I will say it's not the evaluation and I think it is a great weekend and the fire of the evaluation and I think I have a great day city to do with the big bang and a racing stripe I love the evaluation and treatment to the fire of the year and I am looking to do more of development to do with it was on
  • Trip up on the tram cart was good but once up there signs were co fusing to a point I got lost and instead of doing my intended loop I ended up walking back on my self to be sure I knew where I was going. Views once up here however are amazing.
