Categories: Scenic Drives, Scenic Railroads, Tours, Outdoor Activities, Tourist Spots
The world's slowest luxury express train, Glacier Express links the glitzy mountain resorts of St. Moritz and Zermatt in the idyllic Swiss Alps. Passing through World Heritage-listed landscapes, the train traverses 291 bridges and 91 tunnels, crossing a mountain pass 2,033 m (6,670 ft) above sea level. The giant windows of the elegantly designed panoramic carriages give you unobstructed views of the majestic Alpine scenery, including lush valleys, deep gorges, and soaring mountaintops. If you can't devote an entire day to admiring mountains landscapes from inside a train carriage, choose a shorter section of the journey and get off at one of the railway's intermediate stations. You must reserve your seats in advance, so plan ahead and book online. Work out when and for how long to visit Glacier Express and other Brig attractions using our handy Brig tourist route planner.

Flight to Zürich, 1st class train to Chur, overnight at the 4 star ABC hotel, then 1st class in the "Glacier Express" to Zermatt. The name is actually wrong, because he's not going over a glacier, only through a pass. It is actually just a train ride that spent an extra expensive bottle of wine and an expensive meal. The prices are ca to the 21/2 times over the German. You actually do not need the Windows in the roof, the walls of the environment are not so high. For us as skiers about unspectacular. That could have made also with the Rhaetian Railway and the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn. In Zermatt then 2 nights at the 4 star hotel Pollux. The Gornergrath included in the package train ride took us into a stone desert about three thousand meters, dying glaciers but also to a sensational views of some 4000der in beautiful weather we have interrupted the plummeting on the Riffelalp and those hours in the most beautiful Sun with his back to the hut in the shadow of the wind, were the highlight of the whole trip. The next day by train 1st class back to Zurich airport and the flight home. The non-existent for us experience was at all disproportionate to the effort and cost. You can begin really something nicer.show original

Lifetime experience, magnificent train, views and surroundings. Love all the journey from Chur to Zermatt
It's fantastic route between Zermatt to St.Moritz even 8 hours, not boring. If you have time enough, don't forget to reserve a seat in right side for the better view of scenic.
Beautiful experience. Loved the view.this was the first touristy thing we did once we landed Switzerland and gave really an amazing insight to the beautiful country
