  • Lovely 12 century fortress on a hill overlooking Schaffhausen, vineyards, and the Rhein. Not for the mobility impaired. Wear good walking shoes. If the weather is good, you will be rewarded with excel...  more »
  • Whether in winter or in summer, the view of the city is unique. The Munot has still more to offer: In July every Saturday a ball with dance music, in August a week cinema, often even a concert and new year's Eve there greeted the new year and celebrated with all present.

  • "Munot" Fortress over the Small Town Schaffhausen. A famous swiss song is called "s'Munot-Glöggli" (Munot-Bell) which is about the bell on the roof of the tower (which is still in function) Go up and enjoy the old fortress which was build in the years 1563–1585 and serves as the city's symbol. In 1805 almost the City Schaffhausen has wanted to destroy the fortress but thanks Johann Jakob Beck they've changed the mind and got restored till 1839. the Munot is open daily (Entry: Free) where you get a beautiful view down to the rhine and city Schaffhausen. Several events are held during the year (Open-Air Kino, Concerts, Ball - dance party) Tip: From the other side of the rhine /or on the bridge (to Feuerthalen) you get a beautiful view up to the Munot and which's giving you a perfect foto sujet.
  • Perfect getaway for children. An old fort where you can feel like a knight. Discovering the fort and enjoying the view over Schaffhausen: It's all there.
  • Like in a fairy tail. Fantastic place, great views.
  • Great view over the city. It's for free and only takes 15 minutes to climb.
  • Medival castle with great panorama of Schaffhausen and Rhine river. ( Warning , you need to climb a lot of stairs to get there.)
